He finished his primary school in his hometown, continuing after with the high school eduaction in a natural science private lice away from his home and family in the city of Prizren,Republic of Kosovo. He got back home on 2012 finishing another two years of success in ‘’Cambridge School Peja’’ where he was offered a scholarship. Now he is currently studying Building Engineering (BSc) (Honours) in the University of Westminster in London.
University of Westminster and me
The desire to study engineering developed parallel with my desire to work in London, the city where another half of my family lives. Before I applied and then enrolled to the University of Westminster, It came to my mind that I have to see things closely to decide what to do, so I travelled to London for the fourth time and had a research on all the opportunities and universities located in London. After a lot of research and with an advice from my closest cousin who studied politics sciences in the Westminster University, I decided to be a part of this society too. Before I applied for the placement I done a language test in Ankara, Turkey. The Pearson test which I done got me the place in the University, where I scored 72 points out of 90 which is equivalent to approximately 7.3 points of IELTS.
My Goals and Plans
My goals and ambitions are of a huge importance for me, they are rather dreams which I am working on for them to become true. In this University and so on my goal is to get the degree on time, aiming always high on my marks and results, with the mission of becoming a successful Building Engineer afterwards. I am also working on getting employed soon for a work-experience placement in a desirable company, which would probably in the future recruit me and then pay me for my postgraduate degree. Regarding the postgraduate degree, I am planning to continue with this degree straightaway after I finish my bachelor’s degree, I made a lot of research even on this early stage for the place I want to choose and the type of degree I want. Until now I have two options in my mind which are Structural Engineering or a Building Information Modelling grade. After I finish my master’s degree I plan on carrying on working for a company as a structural engineer while at the same time investing in my own company back in my home country as well as in England. I also see myself in the future as a successful businessman in the field of construction, perhaps in the role of the leader and manager of our family business, working together with my cousins who are also interested in the construction field. Regarding the very late future I see myself in the teaching podium, giving lectures to students under a PhD degree.
Some words from me, about me
I am Dren Gashi , my name and surname approximately have the same length when they are written in a word processing application. This assumption might sound bizarre to the reader but that’s how close I look into details and this probably describes best my whole personality, a perfectionist. I am a person who is very keen, confident and hardworking , a person who never gives up until the plan comes to live. My hobbies, passions, talents, knowledge and experience are very versatile. I like science as much as I like art and design, and I think I chose the best profession for myself, combining skills from both of these two gigantic fields. I love my family, and I am tending to be a philanthropic person helping people back in my country and everywhere who suffer from poverty, and social problems which relate to their living environment. In the future I know that I am going to find some way to fulfil another desire of mine, making my intellectual property Ideas of some inventions true. I love mathematics, I used to work and I still work as a volunteer teacher for GSCE levels and A-levels. Back in my country I have attended a lot of competitions in applied sciences such as Physics and Chemistry winning a lot of awards. And now I am looking forward to do so with my first real academic qualification as a Building Engineer. I like nature and travelling and with that a very good habit lays in my heart and mind, which is the love for the environment. I would like to say a few words about my perception for the world we live in which in my opinion is not at all how it’s supposed to be. However, I believe that it’s in our hands to change the destiny of our climate, inequality in terms of society and economy and other statements which are not very satisfying in the eyes of the surpassed amount of world population. Our mission as engineers, architects, scientists and others as individuals who contribute to the world ecosystem, is to be responsible for the steps we take, and of course carry out actions by coining new sustainable inventions, building zero-carbon houses, and making other reforms which would take us to the next level of a greener environment.
